Athens Paper's Statement of Commitment to Sustainable Forestry Practices
VISION
Athens Paper recognizes our responsibility to the environment and the world's forests. We, along with our customers, are positioned to influence both supply and demand in the market, and to contribute to the development of environmental solutions that conserve, protect and restore forests.
Athens Paper supports those responsible forest management practices that both protect biodiversity and ecosystem integrity and encourage our customers to consider these factors when making their paper purchasing decisions.
Athens Paper wishes to ensure the sustainability of our industry, and to promote the development of markets for environmentally responsible forest products.
We will make available to our customers products which have been certified through the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) to have been produced in accordance with recognized sustainable forestry practices. Athens Paper will maintain their link in the Chain of Custody, which is critical to the enforcement of these policies. We will encourage our customers to share in our commitment to these programs and offer assistance to our customers who wish to join in the Chain of Custody.
Athens Paper also supports other initiatives undertaken by our mill suppliers which contribute to preserving the environment including the use of recycled paper, carbon-neutral and chlorine free manufacturing processes, wind power and renewable energy sources. In our analysis of our business practices and choice of vendors we seek to keep our environmental commitment front-of-mind at all times.
